I’m Alice, I’m a hair and make-up artist hailing from York currently working in London. I’m here to show you what’s new in the world of hair and make-up.
Autumn is sure enough showing its face with the colder weather and darker nights closing in, yet for the fashion world, autumn kicked off back in May with London Fashion Week.
Every year, designers always try to invent new styles and recycle past trends Here is a round up of the top 5 hair trends they’ve produced for this autumn and winter.
House of Holland recreated the 40s style twist using much smaller, neater techniques to modernise the look. I’d recommend spraying your hair with a generous helping of dry shampoo before you roll to give your hair more structure and hold. Co lab dry shampoo is my favourite and is available at Superdrug.
This is a super easy way of getting your hair away from your face yet looking super stylish. Pair with a straight solid parting like Erdem did this season for a strong but girly look. Use a pin tail comb and hairspray to achieve this neat style. You can’t beat Elnett hair spray available at Boots for £3.95
Black ribbon and bows were apparent with many brands on the catwalk but Temperly London used this on every model. Add a black head band or simple black ribbon bow to a pony tail to instantly update your usual look. 1m of black ribbon will cost from 49p at Duttons for Buttons in York.
Topshop Unique has brought back the hair goals of the early naughties when everyone was obsessed with their GHD’s! Use your straighteners to glide over your hair to give a light reflecting smooth look. Always remember to use heat protector to avoid any damage and breakage!
An easy way to update your current hair look would be adding accessories to your style. “TOGA” showcased multiple ornate hair clips throughout each models hair, which gave a playful look to the super blingy pieces. Be creative, you don’t just have to use traditional hair accessories. You can always be creative and experiment with old earrings and broaches, pinning in with your standard Kirby grip.
