In last month’s outfit, I made it clear I was thinking about Autumn. Despite the florals – a typical spring pattern – this latest outfit has serious back-to-school September vibes. Let’s talk about these trousers first – if you know me and followed my blog for a while, you’ll know these are different to my usual style. But if there’s something I love, it’s trying new trends, and that new trend is statement trousers. What’s perhaps even crazier than the pattern on these trousers, is the fact I bought the shirt to match (I know!) and although I loved my pajama suit (H&M) OOTD post, I’m aware it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. So I’m making it my mission to style the suit as separate pieces as well.

I don’t know who invented these “fashion rules” (you know the ones; no mixing red and pink, no mixing florals, bold lips or bold eyes: choose one only – all that nonsense), it seems like we’re all born aware of them. It’s time to ditch all that. Clashing prints and patterns, when done cleverly, is like a fast track ticket to looking high fashion. This little bag, £7 from Primark, is an oriental floral pattern on black, while my trousers are a vintage floral pattern on white.

This outfit was becoming pretty smart (well, for me anyway) but of course I’ve added in a pair of fresh white trainers to bring the outfit to a more casual level. I love the look of pairing trainers with smart trousers, a combination which used to be a faux-pas reserved for office workers needing some comfort during their commute, but now a fashion look in is own right. Office-ready athleisure.
