I know it’s July, but this is the UK, so apologies for the knitwear. But then again, the fashion world is already well into AW17 trends. And the big names in fashion have been showing their love for fashionable jumpers and even cardigans.
Under usual circumstances, I’ve got to say I personally do not see the appeal of cardigans. They’re either too young or too old-fashioned, and they’ve been pretty much banned from catwalks recently. However, the “fashion knit” is one of AW17’s major trends, which includes the cardigan come-back. All knitwear should be far from the normcore styles of recent years – add in those key features, like lace up backs, high roll necks and super sleeves.
I love the beginning of new seasons and seeing all the amazing new stock hitting the rails, just like this pink sweater from H&M. This is one of my favourite “up-spec” basic pieces in the shops. The colour is also a perfect summer statement, and is great for a zero effort but perfectly polished look. I love that it’s combining the super popular Bardot trend, with the rustique and casual ‘falling off my shoulder’ thing that celebs do so well (eg, Kim K in a her bomber jackets, and when Rihanna wore a denim jacket as a bardot top.)
With this jumper, I kept the rest of the outfit nice and simple, with Mom jeans from Urban Outfitters in a light wash denim. I think a lot of us are so comfortable in skinny jeans, which is all well and good but very 00s. It’s time to stop, add some new jean styles into your wardrobe and make them your “go-to” instead. Mom jeans, raw-hem and two tone denim are good places to start for an update.
My bag is this adorable backpack from Accessorize which I am so obsessed with, it’s nice and simple, and paired with this pom pom bag charm I think it could easily be seen on the arm of Gigi Hadid or some other off-duty model. I’m always game for a bag that looks more expensive than it is!
Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like every magazine, every shop window is full of velvet shoes. Velvet for me is very Autumnal, but in pale and pastel colours like this pink pair from Primark are perfect for a luxe summer look. A dupe for designer pairs, and great for dressing up a jeans and jumper into something more Pimms-worthy and less duvet day.
