The outfit this month was created with summer in the city in mind. I enjoyed the sunshine in museum gardens wearing one of my favourite trends of the whole year and a strawberry ice-cream!
Whatever your cause is, make sure you have it plastered on your T-shirt this season. Slogans are back in a big way, and they’re more significant than ever. I chose this feminist inspired tee from Topshop. I bought this one a size up from my usual for a more oversized fit, also helps with keeping cool. I also wrote more on this trend in my recent post on my own blog.
Possibly the most flattering ways to wear a baggy tee (aside from lampshading – look it up) is to tuck into a high waisted skirt. I’ve gone for this one from Urban Outfitters, a high shine vinyl A-line. On colder days, tuck into mom jeans for another casual cool outfit.
The red of the lettering is matched with these red Converse. Hi-top all stars remind me of summer, and to beat the over-worn and basic white, pick another classic colour, like pale pink or blue. I paired mine with these fishnet ankle socks from Topshop to make the look a little more interesting. Fishnet tights and socks are one of many trends this year which has snowballed due to social media. They can automatically take your ordinary shoes or jeans and instantly lift an #ootd to insta-potential.
I’ve always said grey is one of my favourite colours, year round. Sounds a little dull, but I personally think grey needs more appreciation. This bag from Accessorize is worth some of that attention, with a deep red and a zip down the front. I also think its a perfect size, just enough for phone, wallet and ice cold Diet Coke – the colours match so maybe the best finishing touch to an outfit on a hot day?
