Nothing sounds better than cozying up with a hot chocolate, fluffy slippers and a soft blanket to browse through the wonders Etsy has to offer this time of year. Christmas might be over, but that doesn’t mean you should stop enjoying the sight of exceptionally beautiful things.
On December 3rd, the Hilton hosted the Etsy Made Local York fair (https://www.etsy.com/uk/etsymadelocal); nestled away and withdrawn from the hustle and bustle of the city, a handful of the Team Etsy York gathered to sell their creations at their Christmas fair. Luckily for us fashion lovers, Etsy makes it possible to buy all year round (wooh!). Whether you’re looking for a bespoke gift for a friend you haven’t had a chance to see or yourself (and let’s be real, there is nothing better than gifting yourself post-Christmas), these shops are bound to make your heart smile and you’ll no doubt want to buy all the things.
Here are some of our favourite Etsy Designers in York – check out their Team Page (https://www.etsy.com/uk/teams/27608/teamyork/members?sort=update_date&page=1

The Velvet Egg by Catherine and Elle
These super adorable faces appear on pocket mirrors, posters, wrapping paper… We love the eclectic and dreamy feel of these Velvet Eggs! The colour palette is on point and is guaranteed to please your style-conscious friends who already owns all the rose gold and marble in the world. The cushions are particularly photogenic and would look super cute on anyone’s instagram feed. Most likely your own!
HJohnsonJewellery by Heather Johnson
These super dainty pieces are the perfect gift for your minimalist, non-traditional, artisanal-jewellery-loving friend (because we all have one of those!). Heather’s pieces are discreetly eye-catching, not to mention irresistible. Think tiny and geometric, but cooler than a simple wishbone or triangle piece. We’re particularly fond of her gemstone work!
Little Silver Hedgehog by Emma Farley
Emma’s nature-inspired jewellery is delicate and intricate – just the kind of thing you would wear over a plain black polo neck or to liven up and crisp white shirt. In other words, it’s perfect for any occasion! All of her pieces are silver clay, embossed with leaves, animals, waves… York is lucky to have her, because her designs are everything we’ve ever wanted to wear! (Oh, and Emma owns a hedgehog hospital. I told you, irresistible)
Holmes-Made by Melissa Holmes
Exceptional doesn’t even start to describe these paper-cut designs. Gift tags, cards, wall art… It’s all there! If you love York as much as we do (or your loved ones do), you’ll appreciate the paper-cut art of Yorkshire landscapes! We’re all about that personal touch.
Homeward Creative by Dave and Emma Parker:
If you live in York (unless it’s under a rock), you will have seen these uber-cool pieces of furniture in trendy coffee shops across the city. Their authentic and environmentally friendly wooden pieces are the ideal gift, big or small, for a friend who loves a vintage and shabby feel to their interior. Or for yourself, to replace your scratched and stained coffee table. You can even choose to gift them a custom item! (if you really really love them.)
Me and My Ampersand by Monique Archer:
These fun prints are perfect to hang up on your gallery wall or gift to new parents. The quotes will make anyone with children smile because Monique’s theme, Toddlers’ Truths, is so relatable! My personal favourite is ‘Our house looks like we’re losing a game of jumanji’. Yep, 100% relatable (even without children, I might add!).
